Nutritional Therapy is the scientific use of key nutrients from food and drinks (i.e. vitamins, minerals, enzymes, proteins, fatty acids etc), to boost the body's natural defenses, heal imbalances and return the body to homeostasis (a stable healthy state). If required supplements and functional testing may also be recommended.
As well as responding to poor health or a particular ailment, Nutritional Therapy can be used as a preventative tool e.g. improving cholesterol levels, lowering intake of saturated fat, losing excess weight and increasing intake of garlic and omega 3 fats, may lower the risk of heart problems later in life and improve overall health.
